Kokopelli Animal Hospital is a Cat-Friendly Practice

Kokopelli Animal Hospital has been certified by the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP) as a Gold Status Cat Friendly Practice. To keep our certification, we go through periodic evaluations to ensure we are up to date on the newest protocols!

We joined this program because we love cats and understand they are unique and we want to learn as much as we can about them. We know they hide disease so are often quite ill before they let their caretakers know anything is wrong. We also understand they often get stressed on the way to, and at, the veterinary practice.

As a result of this special certification, cats have their very own designated feline exam room full of cat toys, feline pheromones, catnip, and feline-friendly music (believe it or not music helps keep some cats more relaxed).

Another standard to achieve gold-level cat-friendly status is to have a designated feline-only holding area. We have a double cat cage with horizontal bars that cats prefer to look out of as well as multiple levels as cats like to sit in high perches.
